The World War II memorial is located on 17th street in Washington D.C. It was started in September of 2001, and was open to the public in April of 2004. It is an important memorial because it is a tribute to the 16 million people who gave their lives for the freedom of Eastern Europe. The designer was Leo A Daly, who designed many different centers, labs and other buildings. The monument is made up of a large reflection pool, surrounded by columns for each of the fifty states, and six territories during the war. Each has a wreath, whet means the state’s main cash flow was from industry. If it as a wheat wreath, it means that their main profit is from agriculture. At either end of the reflecting pool, there are two pavilions representing the war in the Atlantic, and the war in the pacific.
World War II was a war that will be remembered forever. The memorial is located on 17th street in Washington D.C. They started it in september 2001, and was released it to the public in April 2004. This is a good memorial.

It pays respects to the 16 million people who were in the US army, the 400,000 who died and those who supported the soldiers from America. Roger Durbin suggested the idea of the War Memorial as a veteran himself. The final design had 56 pillars all 17 ft. The construction of the site started September, 2001. Over $197 million pledges and cash were given towards the memorial. The design competition that went nation-wide drew 400 admissions.

This memorial is dedicated to the World War 2 Veterans. It went public on April 29, 2004. My grandfather was a WW2 veteran and he is honored in this memorial, so I believe that it’s a really good thing to have because for all of the families who lost loved ones in this war should be able to go and pay respects to them. It honors 16 million people who fought for us. Out of the 16 million 400,000 died. It was Friedrich St.Florian’s who designed this monument. He was an architect and a teacher. This wonderful monument is located on 17th street in Washington D.C. It has 56 large pillars surrounding a fountain. There is also a pair of arches that are with the pillars. This memorial was dedicated on November 11th, 1995 by President Clinton. The memorial is an oval shaped area with 43 foot arches. There are six pillars surrounding the memorial representing six states. Also, there is a wall with 10 gold stars. Each one of the stars represents 4,000 people who died during World War II.

And the last is the committee got over $195 million for fundraising.
