   The U.S. Capitol is located in Washington DC. It was created in 1828 by a man named William Thornton. This building is important because it has had meetings for the House of Representatives and the senate for two centuries. William Thornton was a very important person involved with this building. He was the original designer of the us capital building. Some important things to know when visiting it are, it was created by two different people. William Thornton designed it and then Brother Benjamin Latrobe redesigned it after the war of 1812. later on Thomas Walter added to the building.

This is because it is where many important memorials, buildings, and people are or go. For example, The White House is an important building in Washington D.C.    When was it created: when both Virginia and Maryland gave up a 10×10 land from its state.
   One important person and why they were important: George Washington was important because he was the leader of the continental army and was the first president. He was clever and thanks to him we won independence.

The President is Barack Obama. George Washington was supposed to be buried in the capitol but was buried in Mount Vernon instead. The dome on the capitol is made up 8,909,200 pounds of iron.

The U.S. capitol is important because this where all the laws are made for our country. There were many architects that were involved in the building of the capitol. One person who was involved was George Washington. It took a long time to make and rebuild the capitol. On August 24, 1814, the capitol was burned by the British.

   • This buildings first brick was put down on September 18, 1793.

   • It is a meeting place for our government which is very important!

   1. Most architects and designers of this building were Freemasons.
   2. This is and was a meeting place for the government.
   3. This building is not only a meeting place but also a museum for art and history.
   4. One purpose of creating this monument was to secure a place for the congress to meet and that’s just what it did!
